A Prayer….
From the third world woman in a simple mud hut
To the down and out man who’s down on his luck
To the smallest child, down on her knees
As you love them, you also love me
The extent of my sins, I could never know
My burdens you carry, though each day they grow
The love that you’ve given, it’s perfect, complete
Help me to love others as you have loved me
I raised my arms, Lord, I lifted them high
Receiving your blessings, I opened them wide
Grant me your gift, God, this is my plea
As you spoke through the prophets, speak now through me
I don’t always listen, I close up my heart
I rush headlong or refuse to start
So please break my heart Lord, tear it and see
I long for your guidance, shine your light on me
The books and the songs and the things of no worth
The idols we create and praise on this earth
Take them away Lord, bring me to my knees
Help me not to serve them, and only serve thee
The example I set as I walk through this life
It’s not always Godly in others sights
But when they look at me Lord, just help them to see
The life that you’ve changed and the heart you’ve set free
